Fertility Tips

Sleep

A big problem is that people are not getting enough sleep, and not sleeping on the same schedule routinely distorts hormonal cycles and their biological clock gets thrown off.

Cell phones are a big problem. Light pollution of a TV, phone alerts or tablet need to be eliminated for your general health. Especially for fertility and hormones.

Get adequate sleep and eliminate noise and light pollution to improve your rest. Get at least eight hours.

Many infertility patients take melatonin supplements, but what is best is to minimize noise and light pollution and get consistent sleep. Get adequate amount of sleep throughout the week.

Weight

Women who have normal body weight have peak fertility. Those who are significantly under or overweight have more difficulty achieving pregnancy and are at higher risk of complications during pregnancy. This is especially true for women who have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Rapid weight loss or gain can also impair fertility by putting your body into a high stress/survival mode. Don’t go on a crash diet or exercise routine – eat a healthy and balanced diet. If you are overweight, it is usually recommended to go on a sustainable diet and exercise routine. With the goal to only lose a small amount of weight, this should be done in accordance with your doctor.
